Thrifty Treasures & Met Monday … Paper Mache Eggs, Candle Stick & Finials

Welcome to Today’s Thrifty Treasures & Metamorphosis Monday Y’all . Weekly blog parties hosted by the wonderfully talented Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality & Susan @ Between Nap on the Porch.  To visit Rhoda & Susan an all of the wonderful people participating this week click on the buttons below:MetaMondaySouthernHospThriftyTreasurescopy

I haven’t finished any of the things I’ve been working on this past week, so I dug up some things that I never got around to posting that I did a few months ago. All of the pieces below I picked up at Hobby Lobby during a huge 90% off of  items they had on clearance.  Below you’ll see what I paid for each of the items.

Wooden Finials & Plaster Candle Stand… As you can see the Candle stand was a bit beaten up.. but I was able to touch it up in those places..

Once I painted them black.. they looked great.

I’m using the candle holder as a stand for a black bird cage that I had already.. which came from Target.

This next piece .. I really loved.. but hated the blue splattered paint.

DSCF2024

Gave it a coat of black spray paint.. much better.

It also sits on my fireplace.. but the more I look at it.. the more I don’t like it in black.. Soooo I’ll be redoing it  white and distressing it to match the Church birdhouse.

Got a couple of bags of these paper mache eggs for .10 cents each.

So they’ll be ready for next years spring fling.. I went ahead and painted them.

Turned out pretty good for my first try at using the toothbrush splatter method.

  28. Maybe rub in some green (similar color to the cross on the bird house) over some of the areas, once you paint it white. I think that would give it some nice depth.
