Indian Watching Over Camp..
Today I'm showing another painting done by
Today I'm showing another painting done by
my talented Mother.
tree in front of the Indian watching guard over the camp.
Even though I thought it was perfect ..
she wasn't happy with how his face looked,
so she stuck a tree in to make him appear to
be hiding and to hide her dislike of his face.
The Frame is another frame made by
my Grandfather...
This particular frame is probably my
most favorite of all the ones I have that he made.
I love the lil marks .. it makes me
think of old wood with termite trails.
but with our remodeling and all
the new colors and themes we have
chosen .. this painting doesn't fit in any longer.
So I'm safely packing it away to save for Ashley.
last year at a yard sale for $2.00.
I love the painting but I'm not fond
of the frame color.
So I'd like your help and advise on this one..
So I'd like your help and advise on this one..
I want to hang this one in my office here at home,
and I'm not quite sure what color to redo the frame.
the painting and my new color theme is
below.
I was thinking of using a dark brown base
I was thinking of using a dark brown base
with a beige top coat and give it a crackle finish.
Do you think that'd be too much with the details
in the frame, or take away from the focus of the painting?
Tell me what cha think..
I'd love to hear y'alls opinions!
comments.
I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer.
Thank You For Visiting
Have A Blessed Day,
Wow, you're mother is really talented. What a family heirloom, especially with your grandfather making the frame too!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture your mother painted.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
how smart (and talented) of your mom! The church painting is really pretty-it will be neat to see what you do with it:)
ReplyDeleteYour mother is so talented, and clever to add the tree!
ReplyDeleteAs for the gold frame, I like it! It looks like some of the frames in our house! My first thought was to paint it white, or use another white one, not sure. Why not take the picture to Michael's and try out several frames until you find the color you want.
Katherine
Both are so nice. I think Katherine's idea is a good one...that way you will know exactly what you want.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I really enjoyed looking at your mother's painting. It reminded me of my grandmother. She was a great oil painter too. The other one is nice and will look great in your office. I am going to let other more experienced crafters help you with your frame question, because I would be asking too. :) Blessings, Jax
ReplyDeleteyour moms painting is wonderful as is your grandfathers frame.I think you have made ac good color chose for your frame for the office with your color scheme.

Your Mom's painting is so lovely. Thanks for sharing. How about the bluish gray of the church's roof which is similar to the blue strip in your fabric.

from A Raggedy Roberta Anne
what a beautiful treasure, I admire people who has the talent to paint, beautiful show-n-tell!
ReplyDeleteHelen
I love your paintings*! I'm showing paintings for my show & tell today too.
ReplyDeleteYour Mom painted a beautiful picture, made even better with a frame handmade by your Grandpa. Wonderful family treasure! I would either paint the frame a dark brown or sand it a little and add a dark brown stain to the existing color. I believe the frame is too busy and not the right style to crackle.
ReplyDeleteyour mom is such a great painter! this is a beautiful landscape/portrait painting. that's funny about the indian's face :). and i love your dad's frame. my dad tried his hand at a couple frames, found out it wasn't his thing - lol. thanks for sharing your painting with us today!
ReplyDeleteThere is always room for the in The Shadow of the Cross. Feel free to visit anytime.
Your mom made a great painting even better. I like the tree there. The frame is so pretty and perfect for the painting. It's important for the frame to compliment the picture. For the other one I think I would be tempted to buy a different frame.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte

ReplyDeleteHi Jadehollow!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you SO MUCH for signing up to FOLLOW. :) I am truly glad we'll be hanging out together often.
I'll be watching what you're doing on this frame. I am NOT good at this sort of thing but have several frames that look similar and really want to update them. So when you decide and repaint, I'll look forward to the photo of what you did.
Again, welcome and many, many blessings. :)
Robynn
I think your mom did a great job on the painting. I like your ideas for the frame on the next painting also.
