Hey Y’all … Long time no see! Some of you may have noticed that I have been awol from my blog the last couple of weeks.. First I would like to thank you all that sent search messages and emails asking “what’s going on”.. Well I’ve been doing what my Doctor ordered and relaxing doing NOTHING. My ole blood pressure has been sky high and they’ve been playing around with my meds, and the ole kidneys decided they wanted to be ugly and start up their troubles again.. so I have so-so days and really bad ones. The last few days have really been great so I decided that I’d get back into finishing up a few projects .. which I’ll be spreading out over the next several days for you.
I’m kicking off the week with a couple of Thrifty Treasure finds..
First this frame.. paid 1.00 at Goodwill .. it was a yellow tag item and yellow was the 50% color that week. It didn’t have a glass.. but I knew I didn’t need one cuz I was turning this lil beauty into a chalk board.
Next I got these 2 frames for .50 cents ea .. also from Goodwill.
I took the yellow frame .. tossed the print inside.. and sprayed it white.
I love the little details on it… Added a piece of plexiglass that I had which was perfect size.
And Voila .. New Chalkboard for my Kitchen!
I had saw this cute idea on another blog .. Angie @ The Happy Homebody made these cute framed Pears..
I took the other 2 frames and sprayed them black.. took a pear cut it 3/4 as shown below …
And made these..
I’ve not decided if I’m gonna keep the background white or not.. It looks a bit bold with my new window treatments colors I’ve chosen .. but.. I’m also adding white china dishes to the walls .. so we’ll see how it looks then. If I change them you’ll be seeing them again on another addition to Met Monday.
Make sure you drop by Southern Hospitality & Between Naps on the Porch to see more Met Monday & Thrifty Treasures.
Hugs Y’all,
Debbie

ReplyDeleteHey Debbie, I hope you get your health problems straightened out! I really like what you did with the frames and the pears! The look is clean and fresh- they should look fine with the white plates you plan on putting on the wall.

When I saw that beautiful frame I just knew there was about to be chalkboard paint involved! It turned out great!

ReplyDeleteDebbie, love the pear idea! I have some artificial pears and they are put away in a drawer. I think I'll try this out. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you have been sick.
ReplyDeleteThe chalkboard turned out too cute.
And the pears are very pretty - I love pears. I may have to do this.
Glad to see you back around. Your projects turned out great! Love the chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie
ReplyDeleteHope it's been a good day...and that you have MANY more. I love what you did with the chalkboard/frame. It's really lovely. And the pears...how unique! That's something I may have to try.

Great pears. It's a principal of classical architecture that for captive columns (your pears) you show them curving around the back: more than 180 degrees. So cutting only 1/4 off the back is very clever. Super job.
ReplyDeleteChalk boards are some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteYour pear idea is to die for!
Great job...welcome back.

Beautiful chalkboard frame! And your pear art is sweet!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're back! I like the pear pictures. I'll have to remember to incorporate some 3D art into my (upcoming) new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThis ALL looks great. The chalkboard, the pears!!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOVE that fabric!! LOVE IT!
Lou Cinda :)
Very cute ... I am so in love with chalkboard paint! That is a really pretty frame so it makes it even better. And those pears are super cute - they look real!
ReplyDeleteNice chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteDebbie how beautiful they all turned out! I just adore the chalkboard. ~Lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteI did a pear project with pears on a plate. I would change the background with a paper to go with your curtains so it's not so stark, if your kitchen was like Rhoda's laundry room all in green black and white I would leave it. LOVE the chalkboard frame as well.
ReplyDeleteBlog Rankings--I don't know if it is just because everyone is busy getting all their last vacations in and getting kids ready for school and only hitting certain top blogs because my number was 55 and now I'm in the 100 range and I haven't gone anywhere and am still posting and visiting people. I'm only 3 months old but I was suprised.
Come for a visit.

Those pears are just too cute! And I always love me a chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteBlogrankings -- it starts over every Sunday, so it takes a few hours for you to jump back up there where you belong. I love rising really fast in the rankings on Sunday and Monday, it's fun to watch.
I love the DIY chalkboards, I just made my first a few weeks ago. Your framed pear is too precious- great job!!
