Outdoor Wednesday ... Yellow River Game Ranch

It's Outdoor Wednesday
@

Graciously Hosted by: Susan
Thank You Susan.
Stop by and see all those participating today.

Yellow River Game Ranch
As most of you know..
My family loves wildlife and the outdoors.
Last summer we took a group
of youth from our church on an outing to visit the

located near Stone Mountain.

Yellow River is home to Georgia's
most famous Ground Hog
General Beau Lee
Georgia’s Official Weather Prognosticator
We weren't lucky enough
to see Beau on this trip..
But I did get a shot of his fancy
white columned Southern mansion.

As you enter the ranch
you're greeted by these beautiful
hungry creatures.
The Ranch has strict rules about
what foods can be brought in from outside..
Nothing but carrots, apples, crackers, celery,
and peanuts.

All animlas along the 1 mile trail are
people friendly...
Here's Ashley and Jayden
petting a gentle young buck.

Jayden even got a couple of nose kisses..

Ashley literally has this big buck eating
out of her hand.

As you can see this is one of the animals that came
to the ranch wounded..
He's looking great and healthy.

Billy the Goat..
Original huh lol.
This guy was a hoot.
He was a lil trickster.

Black Bears...
I think these guys escaped from a
circus somewhere..
They were regular lil performers.
They were doing flips and handstands
for treats.

Just one of the hundreds of beautiful
roosters running around.

A Squirrel enjoying a peanut..
As soon as he finished
he'd run back down the tree..

and grab another.

Another beautiful young buck.
I think he was laughing at me..

I was looking like a hot mess
after walking the 24 acres
in the July Georgia heat.

But it was all worth it..
What's a lil sweat when
you can see and touch these
wonderful creatures
that God has graciously blessed us with.

Big Daddy Jeff
enjoying this Big Daddy Buck.
I think this one was his favorite.

I hope you enjoyed our lil outing..
It was an experience that we
will never forget and we've
vowed to make this an annual
event for our family.

Show & Tell Friday ... Heidi Ott Dolls

Welcome to Show & Tell Friday
Hosted by: Kelli
@
Be sure to stop by Kelli's and see
all the great things being shown today.

Ashley's Heidi Ott Dolls

Today I wanted to share with you a
few dolls from Ashley's doll collection.
These were a gift to Ashley from my Dad
when she was around 3 years old.

They are all Heidi Ott dolls
and are part of the Faithful Friends &
Best Friends Collection.

This one is my favorite..
just look at those eyes.

They are similar in many ways to
The American Girl series..
They too have their adventurous
tales of 1890 told through a
series of books written by: Sharla Whalen

We have a lot of wonderful memories
from these beauties.
They shared many tea parties..
sleep overs, fashion shows and
beauty parlor makeovers with Ashley.

Ashley is getting a bedroom makeover..
transition from preteen to junior teen.
As I packed these dolls away earlier
I admit I was a bit sad.

I just knew .. like so many
of the other "little kidish" things she didn't want around
any longer, that she'd tell me to give them to goodwill as well.
Imagine my surprise when she asked if there was room in
the attic to keep them for her to have when
she moves out.
I quickly ran upstairs grabbed their boxes
retagged them .. quickly took a few pics
then lovingly packed them
securely away..
hopefully for the next 10 years.

Thank you for joining me for
my addition to this weeks Show & Tell..
Don't forget to head back to Kelli's
for more wonderful treats.

Outdoor Wednesday .. Hummingbird Festival

It's Outdoor Wednesday
@
Hosted By: Susan
Be Sure to stop by Susan's to
see all the folks participating today.

Since April is just around the corner ..
I wanted to share with Y'all
what we're in the process of preparing for
around our yard.
Hummingbirds
Over the last few years we've been trying to
attract hummingbirds to our yard.
I hung the lil liquid feeders and soon we had a couple
of regulars that started feeding.
Although we were happy with the few we had
I wanted more!
A friend suggested we go to
to get more information about them.
Each year in Covington
The Georgia Hummers
host a festival to educate
the public about hummingbird conservation,
feeding hummingbirds, and how to improve
landscaping to attract hummingbirds.

The Festival is held at Gaither's Plantation
here in Covington and they have a
Hummingbird garden set up there,
and by the time the festival comes around
they have hundreds of hummingbirds feasting
on the beautiful plants and feeders.
Members of the Georgia Hummers study group
capture the hummingbirds for banding.
Banding them helps in their study of
migration pathways and they get a
lil health check up as well.

After they are checked out and banded
comes the exciting part..
They pick names out of a pot to
see who gets to release the lil
hummers back into the open.

We bought 5 tickets .. and
put my name on 2 and
Ashley's on the other 3.
She was the lucky one..

Ashley got to release 3 different ones.
2 females & 1 male.
I was so jealous!
Most of them take flight within about
30 seconds.. but
This next picture is of one that she

got to hold for about 3 minutes..
it just stayed and stayed
and got even more jealous!

I didn't pout too long..
How could I ?
Just look at that big ole smile
filled with all that joy.

Thank You Susan for hosting
today's event.. and Thank You
for taking the time to visit my contribution
to today's Outdoor Wednesday.
Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll
have pictures of my very own
flock of Hummers.

These Daffodils took a beating a few

All of these made it as well!
Aren't they beautiful!
This is the walkway leading up to my
front porch.
I had to use the flash .. but you should
see how beautiful they are with the
soft glow of the solar lights on em.

Show and Tell Friday ... Indian Watching Over Camp

It's Friday and that means it's time for
Show & Tell
@

Be sure to stop by Kelli's to view what
others are showing today.

Indian Watching Over Camp..
Today I'm showing another painting done by
my talented Mother.

When she first finished this painting there wasn't a
tree in front of the Indian watching guard over the camp.
Even though I thought it was perfect ..
she wasn't happy with how his face looked,
so she stuck a tree in to make him appear to
be hiding and to hide her dislike of his face.

The Frame is another frame made by

my Grandfather...

This particular frame is probably my

most favorite of all the ones I have that he made.

I love the lil marks .. it makes me

think of old wood with termite trails.

Normally this one hangs in my office..
but with our remodeling and all
the new colors and themes we have
chosen .. this painting doesn't fit in any longer.
So I'm safely packing it away to save for Ashley.

This next painting is one that I picked up
last year at a yard sale for $2.00.
I love the painting but I'm not fond
of the frame color.

So I'd like your help and advise on this one..
I want to hang this one in my office here at home,
and I'm not quite sure what color to redo the frame.

The wall color is that which is on the wall behind
the painting and my new color theme is
below.
I was thinking of using a dark brown base
with a beige top coat and give it a crackle finish.
Do you think that'd be too much with the details
in the frame, or take away from the focus of the painting?
Tell me what cha think..
I'd love to hear y'alls opinions!

Thank You for stopping by and for leaving your
comments.
I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer.

Spring Fluffing Party ..

Welcome to

Spring Fluffing Blog Party

Hosted by:

Thank You Rhoda for hosting this fun
and exciting event.
Be Sure To Stop By

And Check Out All The Beautiful Spring
Decorations Everyone is Showing Today.

Spring is in the air here in
My lil Georgia Home...

My Newest & Favorite Spring Decoration..
The Rabbit Lamp

For more details about The Rabbit Lamp
Click HERE I Got An Awesome Deal at Lowe's.
I paired it with a small birds nest that I
found at a local floral supply store.
They were only a $1.00 so I bought quite a few..
I'll be changing out the eggs and
adding my own special touch to them later.

This table is in my foyer and I've changed
it several times..
This is what it currently looks like.

A lil touch of Easter to my Kitchen window view.

This was the before of the table
in my foyer .. was a bit too crowded.

Another Before Shot:
Around the corner down the hallway ..
A Small whitewashed stand with
Pink Lauren Trace Bunny.

She's a bit worn at 25 years old but still
beautiful!
I'll have to try out Rhoda's
modeling clay trick on her.

After:
Antique Family Heirloom Green Churn
filled with Forsythia.
The Cross is one of 3 I purchased at Kirklands
last year for my outdoor gardens.. but after
one got broken in a storm I moved the other 2 inside.

Found Bunny a new home
in front of this beautiful piece.
I haven't a clue what it's called
it reminds me of a greenhouse and
normally I have a set of candles in it ..
but replaced those with another birds nest with
a beautifully colored green, blue and yellow bird.

Used one of Ashley's left over Easter baskets
and filled it with Forsythia & Daisies.

Last night as I was getting my pictures together
for this post I noticed
this beautiful glow down the darkened hallway..
Ashley had forgotten to turn the lights off
in her bathroom.. which for once I'm glad she did.
Because I would have missed this glorious sight..
A beam of light glowing
perfectly on the Forsythia.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my
spring fluff..
Now head on back over to Rhoda's
and see all the other fluffing going on.
Have A Blessed Day,
Big Hugs...
